Job Summary:
The ISS Paraprofesional is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.

All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Work Schedule: 186 days/7.5 hr.

Grade/Level: PARA

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Primary Function: Ability to learn and utilize routine methods and procedures to be followed in instructional settings. Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal or designee daily.

Qualifications:

Education level must be in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines

Certification as mandated by the Professional Standards Commission

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Essential Functions:

Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and high structured classroom environment

Assist with supervision of students

Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher

Assist with student assessment, grading work and tests, and collecting data on student progress

Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers

Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments

Locate, operate, and return needed equipment

Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy

Assist in ordering and inventory of ISS classroom equipment and materials

Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP)

Record student attendance and discipline referrals using staff designated computer

Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks

Assist with school-wide supervision such as loading/unloading buses

Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position

Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner

Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment

Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality

Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures
