    PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Data Specialist is responsible for facilitating the efficient operation of maintaining and reporting data.

    PAY GRADE: Professional/Technical/Supervisory Non-Administrator Salary Schedule - Grade NG - Salary Range: $56,775.00 to $78,822.00. Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified relevant experience.

    FLSA STATUS: Exempt

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 231 Days (12 Months)

    REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Strategic Data & Research

    EDUCATION LEVEL: High School Diploma

    EXPERIENCE: District Office experience with Student Information and FTE Tracker required. Experience working with GADOE Portal required. Minimum of two years of experience working with student information systems.

    PYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; sedentary work involves sitting most of the time; jobs are sedentary if working and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    PROFICIENT SKILLS:

    • Understanding of local, state and federal reporting as it pertains to students and school systems.
    • Understanding of student information system software.
    • Possesses personal characteristics and professional competencies that facilitate working with teachers, school system personnel, students and the general public.
    • Familiarity with Office 2003 or higher and Windows XP.
    • Knowledge of appropriate resources relative to the hardware and software used in the Douglas County School System.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    1. Collect, compile, analyze and report data to support the work of the Strategic Data Team.
    2. Provide reporting as required by Douglas County School System administration.
    3. Report all student data required by the Georgia Department of Education including but not limited to FTE, Student Record, Pre-ID labels and Max Class Size.
    4. Provide training and technical support in the use of FTE Tracker.
    5. Query data to address specific informational requests at the direction of the Strategic Data Team.
    6. Create user-friendly reports to assist stakeholders (Central Office and schools) in data-driven decision making.
    7. Create and manage data stores to house extracted data from a variety of sources.
    8. Provide support for all areas of the student information system to ensure that data is entered properly and in a timely manner.
    9. Serve as a contact with student information system vendor for support to resolve issues with the SIS program.
    10. Report data to other entities when requested and approved by members of the Strategic Data Team.
    11. Communicates needs, changes or updates about student information system with appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
    12. Maintains up to date knowledge of federal, state and local reporting requirements and communicates to appropriate personnel.
    13. Performs other such duties as assigned.
    14. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
