The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for a Registrar.

Summary Description of Classification: Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform school-based duties associated with registering and withdrawing students to and from elementary schools. This position is also responsible for grade changes and keeping accurate records for the bi-annual government funding (FTE) reports. Additionally, this position performs clerical duties as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Meets with and registers new students.
  2. Greets parents in a friendly manner and provides necessary school information.
  3. Inputs student information into the computer to compile student records.
  4. Meets with parents and students to prepare paperwork to withdraw students from school.
  5. Maintains and updates in the computer and permanent file, current immunization records.
  6. Prepares FTE (government) reports accounting for every student and their schedule. This may involve distributing printouts to and from teachers and administrators in order to keep computer files accurate for FTE.
  7. Assists Guidance Counselors with record-keeping functions associated with academic records.
  8. Answers the telephone; takes messages; provides information and assistance to district personnel and the public; relays calls to appropriate personnel.
  9. Maintains a professional atmosphere in the main office; greets and assists staff, is pleasant with parents, students, and visitors; answers questions for staff, parents, students, and others.
  10. Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data; utilizes word processing, database, and software programs.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by up to two (2) year previous experience and/or training involving clerical or secretarial work, or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Must be technologically adept.

SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:
1. 200 day contract year; 8 hours per day
2. Salary: (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience). Up to ten years allowed. The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.
3. Excellent benefits package: includes health insurance; dental and life insurance; employee assistance program; personal, and sick leave; membership in the Teachers' Retirement System.


Physical Demands: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
