Work as a member of an Environmental Health team to provide Environmental Health assessment and evaluation as a part of a County Public Health Department. Evaluate programs and facilities for compliance with environmental laws, rules, and regulations. Recommends monitoring and enforcement/corrective actions.
Depends on Qualifications-Starting minimum salary-$58,547.00,


All Coastal Health District, County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Job Responsibilities

1. Plans and coordinates environmental health programs for the assigned area.
2. Provides technical assistance, regulatory interpretation of environmental health laws, training and advocacy to the public, associates, and regulated community.
3. Plans and conducts inspections and audits of assigned facilities/sites for compliance with applicable health codes.
4. Reviews and/or prepares applications, permits and reports of a highly technical nature.
5. Initiates, negotiates, and implements public health enforcement actions as appropriate.
6. Conducts health related complaint or injury investigations as necessary.
7. Responds to public health emergencies and episodes, and/or conducts health

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which includes the completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.) and one (1) year of experience at the lower level PH Envir Compl Specialist 3 (RCP122) or equivalent position
Preferred qualifications: technical specialist in on-site wastewater, food safety, toxic chemical, etc. Minimum of 2 years experience as EHS 3, completion of ICS 300
